I’m a true chocolate lover but because I have celiac and also have an intolerance for soy, egg and dairy, I always need to carefully check labels from any store bought the items to make sure that they are free of any foods that may cause me a problem.
I have loved See’s Candy since my childhood. And, by contacting See’s directly, I found that they have great lists for all their products which are egg, nut, soy, and dairy free. They also provided a list of all candies which DO contain gluten (ie, they’re NOT safe for celiacs or anyone with a gluten intolerance). The See’s link is below.
As a start, here are the See’s products which you will need to avoid if you are gluten sensitive.
These products DO CONTAIN GLUTEN:
Bordeaux Heart (3 oz)
Dark Raspberry Heart (3 oz)
Butterscotch Little Pop® Egg Nog Truffle (0.8 oz)
Butterscotch Lollypop Halloween Orange and Chocolate Creams
Candy Canes Mayfair Egg (4.2 oz)
Climber Canes Orange Pumpkin (0.8 oz)
Chocolate Butter Egg (6 oz)
Peanut Butter Egg (4 oz)
Chocolate Butter with Walnut Egg (7.5 oz)
Peanut Butter Heart (3 oz)
Chocolate Walnut Heart (3 oz)
Puppet Candy Sticks
Dark Chocolate Butter Egg (4 oz)
Thanksgiving Chocolate Creams
The See’s website doesn’t mention anything about cross contamination or dedicated lines, but I know many people who eat the OTHER products without any problems.
For their complete allergen list go to :http://www.sees.com/pdf/SeesAllergenInfo_100109.pdf
Be VERY careful reading this list. There are lists for egg-free, nut-free, soy-free and dairy-free, but the Gluten category is for those products that DO contain gluten.
Is it possible to order a box of candy at your store here in Tucson that is gluten freee
Thank You Duane Cormier
I’m sorry, but I do not sell the See’s candy myself. Please contact your local See’s Candy store..and be sure to ask them about the specific GF candies you want to buy.
